Where I stand.
My name is Adam Hopkins. This is what I believe, how I will vote, and what I will fight for in Jefferson City. No hedging. Read it and hold me to it.
Children
Our kids get raised by us before they get processed by them.
I know what it is to be a child this system already wrote off. Somebody on these blocks decided I was worth saving before any agency did. Every child in the 79th deserves that same village, and a state that funds it instead of fighting it.
How I will vote
I will vote to roll back the push to charge more of our children as adults.
I will vote to fully fund city schools, with gifted and STEM paid by the state.
I will vote to seat our young people in their own government through a Youth Civic Assembly.
I will vote for the Parental Reconciliation Act, so a parent who wants to show up is never shut out.
What I fight for
Juvenile Justice Reform.
Full state funding for city schools.
The Youth Civic Assembly.
The Parental Reconciliation Act.
Wealth
Acquire it. Keep it. Pass it down.
This community built St. Louis with its hands and was never allowed to keep what it built. A family should be able to own here, and hand something down when they are gone. If you earn here, you invest here.
How I will vote
I will vote to make outside development pay a documented, enforceable benefit back to this district.
I will vote for just cause eviction standards, community land trusts, and blight reform that keeps North City land with the people who live on it.
I will vote to defend the minimum wage and paid sick leave that Missouri voters already passed, without compromise.
I will vote to protect families so a death or a disaster does not erase a generation of equity in a single season.
What I fight for
Enforceable community benefit agreements.
Anti-displacement housing and land trusts.
The wages voters already won.
The Missouri Household Succession and Disaster Relief Authority Act.
Safety
Public health and public safety are the same promise.
Safety in this district is whether the ambulance comes, whether the clinic is open, whether the bus runs, and whether your mother keeps her coverage. Real safety is all of it, and I will not pretend otherwise.
How I will vote
I will vote to fund violence interruption before it is needed, with permit to purchase and red flag protections.
I will vote to defend Medicaid and Medicare, expand mental health parity, and stand up a Bridge Pass to care.
I will vote to move the unhoused into stability instead of sweeping the problem one block over.
I will vote for transit that reaches care, work, and food, and never bulldozes our communities to do it.
What I fight for
Prevention funded first.
Healthcare defended, the Bridge Pass built.
A real path off the street.
Transit that connects without destroying.
Dignity
Honor, respect, and the truth, restored to the brand of North City.
There are systems in this state that profit from telling a lie about who we are. I will not let that lie stand on the record, and I will protect the people this system targets first, starting with the ones who built everything the rest of us inherited.
How I will vote
I will vote to protect the complete history of this state and country in what our children are taught.
I will vote to keep the public record from being quietly edited to erase what happened here.
I will vote to protect the seniors on fixed incomes who blazed the path and are first to be cut.
I will vote to defend the bodily autonomy decision the people of Missouri already made at the ballot.
What I fight for
The Missouri Complete American History Act.
Integrity of the public record.
Protection for our elders.
Bodily autonomy, and funding for the non-profits doing the work.
